Check In

I haven't been in this thing in a while ,lol and that's usually the case my schedule grows exponentially and I forget about my poor blog. Well I've been working on my personal brand trying to land a summer internship. I'm anticipating graduating college ( Dec '14) and grad school or employment or both! Is it crazy that in my last couple months of school I don't really know what I want to do with my life anymore. I have great faith that my purpose will soon be revealed to me by my creator, I know what I'm good at and what I love, and that my degree will be in is what I want a career in. But what now is the ultimate question. I'm going to keep praying and working. 

I can say that I've been inspired by a lady on Undercover Boss. She was doing something that made her a great deal of money but didn't love and gave that up to be a personal shopper and she gave her all that job because she felt fulfilled. That's what I want, to be video editing, filming, shooting photos, be around sports, have a reason to dress up because I love fashion. Hopefully god gives me a life where I can do all of that plus some!  

Lately, I've been writing for thecelebritycafe.com well actually it's been like 10-11 weeks and I will be working with them for the remainder of the semester and maybe continue to be a site contributor so I keep on working on my writing. I want more than anything to have the assets valuable to a future employer so I shall keep working. 

I want to get my followers up so I can get some feed back, talk to people with similar and not so similar outlooks. This is all a learning experience so if you are interested or know someone willing to follow go on right ahead and do so or let them know I'll follow back and help as much as I can! 

Summer

So my summer is finally coming together. I've started work and I've also started an internship. Work is great I'm at a summer camp working with kids in computers. Its truly a blessing because I will be teaching my oldest group how to use moviemaker. I want to teach a film and TV class either at high school or college level so this will be a test of how well I can actually teach.Not to mention going on a lot of great trips and just having fun with the kids in general. I can't take any pictures because I don't want any legal problems but I'm ready for the next 6 weeks to be great.
With my internship I'm working with thecelebrity.com. I work 10 hours a week writing stories for the site. I'm so ready to become a better writer. This experience will be one for the book and I will be working my butt off. I really want to work in my field when I graduate.
Oh and an update for the few people who actually read my blog I've found the grad program I want to go into so from here on out I'm preparing to get there and to find a career.So if anyone knows of some scholarships for grad school send them my way please!!!

Semesters End

One last final a few more days of work and then I'm headed back to the good ole city of brotherly love. I'm excited to see family and be around people who love me for a few weeks before I head into my senior year of college. (Whoot Whoot) I just don't want to become complacent or stuck where I am now and let the days get away from me. I need to use everyday to the best of my ability.
This is the year of giving at my church I attend while in college. So I plan to give abundantly my time, money, and knowledge. My god has blessed me so abundantly so why not share his blessings with others. I'm not sure what god has in-store for my life but I do know the safest place for me is in his will. Tune in for more post. I will be chronically my summer (hopefully I can keep up with this). I need to keep my skills in shape so I'll be shooting and editing videos. I really want to make a stop motion but I need to find the patients and a topic. Everyone taking finals best wishes! Everyone finished have a great summer.

Eureka!Epiphany!

So today I again bare witness to God's awesomeness! For a while I've been stressing about graduating on time because it just seemed so impossible, due to unforeseen circumstances. God has been working though because I've been getting great news about funding for summer school and for this current semester and its just been a big relief. I know that  faith without works is DEAD so I've been putting in the work to find a way to graduate on time. Today it has been made really plain how I can do that.

Man oh man all I have to do is work hard this semester and pass all my classes and take three classes in the first summer session, and I can be on track to graduate on time. But I went a step further to see if there is an online class I would be able to take at Community College of Philadelphia because I plan on going home the second half of  summer because I have a job lined up. (God'sGood) I found a creative writing class that seems to have a similar course description and if I'm able to take that class. BOW I'd officially a College Senior at NCCU Fall '13 and on track to graduate May 2014!

I write all this to say if you have a goal or dream don't ever, I mean ever give up. If they are aligned with the will of God there is no stopping them you just have to put in the work. Even if you don't reach them in the time you set out to reach them they are still attainable.

To people who want to graduate from college, however long it takes you doesn't matter. I wouldn't mind graduating at a later date and I've even prepared for that but if I can make it in four why not! I put in the work and kept God the for runner of my life. He's truly blessed me and I thought (wrongly) that one set back made all the hard work we put in worthless.

All of this came from yesterdays post about Hill Haper and making life plans. So this is my short term next 15 month plan. I'll be doing more research to create a five year plan. If there are some stumbling blocks or changes I'm ready for them.

Class, Work, Sport

Hey blogger family. Sorry I've been gone so long but this is really a hectic semester. I'm making it though I feel so blessed because God is really being a hedge of protection. I could be stressed out and feel drained and over work but he's really keeping me through everything.

I'm here posting because I'm watching this old video of Hill Haper talking to the students at my university before I became a student. He spoke of not surviving but thriving. His point was so true that we ought to stop saying we are "surviving" and start Thriving!!!! He encouraged those students to write out the blueprint for their lives and write it in pencil or type it up so they could make modifications.

I challenge you to do the same and leave it here. I'm going to work on mine and put it up. Lets work on Thriving and create a generation of thrivers!!!

Shopkick

Hey guys! So here's a post for people who like to shop and those who like to shop and save money! I've done a post like this before and I didn't get any feedback but since putting my blog on google+ I've gotten more views so I thought I'd try again.

So let me tell you about my favorite app. It's called shopkick. It's an app that lets you earn points toward gift cards it's really easy and free. ( well you can add a card and get points when shopping but there's really no need) All you do is walk in stores and get points and some stores have items within their aisles that you can scan  and get points. There are days where you can get 400+ points walking in the likes of a best buy or target and there are days when you won't get as much but all the points are worth it. There are also instant points within the look books which add up as well. Those points can range from 1-15 in what I've experienced so far.

In all it's a great app. Here's where I need you, I'm trying to save up enough points to bring down the price on a tablet. I'm looking into a kindle fire HD. My cousin has it and I fell in love. It's in my price range and has some really great features. I really want to use it to focus on my blogging ,reading (books and magazines), and movie watching when I travel with my team.

 I'm looking to only have to spend $100-150 of my own money and earn $100-150 dollars of shopkick giftcards for most likely best buy. And I can earn points by referring people to the app. It's a win win for myself and anyone that adds it,  in that you will start with 50 points and for the first two weeks of your kicking I will receive half of those points. It's great because you can get your friends and followers involved and get kicks from them.

Oh this app is for Android and iPhone users. If you are an iPhone user like myself your giftcards can go right to your PassBook app and it can easily be accessed. If you don't have an iPhone you will get a barcode that can be scanned when getting a giftcard.

I know all this because I experienced it today! I got a free two dollar giftcard for Target today which doesn't seem like a lot but really came in handy.  I believe that deal is going on until February. Guys I'm so excited I'm going to make a Dream/Goals board. I have the idea all mapped out in my head and I think its really going to be effective. I've been doing a lot of research on how to effectively stay motivated to reach goals. More than once I've read that seeing those goals often help you get there. I will keep you updated, I'll post pics of my board and tell of my progress. Its going to be awesome because I know that I will make it.
